Okay its not THE Pond - as some call the ocean. And it is not just A Pond - as in smaller than a lake. It is a lake! I enjoy living on it and spending time on my back porch listening to music, gazing at the lake and pondering.

The High Price of Drinking (Coffee)

We celebrated our daughter's, Amber, birthday last night with a meal at Red Lobster. The girl turned 30 yesterday. Debbie and I did some calculations and decided that through some kind of strange gene mutation Amber is aging at twice the rate of the rest of us. That is the only explanation of how she could be 3o.

The participants of the the birthday dinner was Amber - of course-, Mickey, Maverick, Randy - Debbie's brother down from Montana on business -, Debbie and me. The food was really quite good! The restaurant at 51st & Yale in Tulsa looks the same as it did when I first ate there as a young man. Back then, however, the place was on the edge of town going south. Now it is pretty much in the center of town.

Living up on the pond as we do, Debbie and I do not get out to eat very often, especially to a nice place like this. The fish was excellent! Shrimp, crab legs, trout, tilapia (did I spell that right?), and more was consumed at our dinner. The place was chosen by the birthday girl and she made a good choice. She knew exactly what she wanted - it was some platter that had something from everything on the menu. The cost of the dinner came to what you could have bought a small car for a few years ago - in the days before government rebates.

With my dinner I had coffee to drink (you were probably wondering when I would get around to the topic of the title of this blog). What is it about the coffee at these fine dining establishments? Where do they get it? The coffee was extremely good - so good in fact that I had 3 cups. I really do like coffee. I did not start drinking it until I was 30 myself. But in the last 23 years I have drank a pot or two a day. A good restaurant blend just can't be beat.

After the dinner we stopped off Barnes and Noble bookstore to browse. We walked around in that store for more than an hour and then Debbie and I purchased another cup before our drive back home.

I woke up at 2 this morning - got up and sat in the recliner with iPod in ear and tried to go back to sleep. After listening to an album I just decided to get up. I guess I am paying the price for four cups of coffee after 6 AM.

Enough lamenting. Clock on the wall tells me it is a few minutes after 4 AM. I'll stop this blog as I have other things to do. Time to make a pot of coffee.

It's almost 6 AM and I've just had a half pot so far.

You just need to come to the Stockman for a good cup of coffee ... OK so it taste like they have used pond water and sweepings off the floor .... but HEY the atmosphere is great! Speaking of the Stockman, it's time for me to go there!
