Okay its not THE Pond - as some call the ocean. And it is not just A Pond - as in smaller than a lake. It is a lake! I enjoy living on it and spending time on my back porch listening to music, gazing at the lake and pondering.

"Men cannot for long live hopefully unless they are embarked
upon some great unifying enterprise, one for which they
may pledge their lives, their fortunes, and their honor."
- C. A. Dykstra

Defining Moments in Life
Every generation of our country has had their defining moments. Whether it be the struggle for independence from England, Civil War, WWI, the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Each generation has had certain events which steeled their souls. My parents' generation has had several of those moments. They have lived through the Great Depression, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam, and now this war against Terrorism.

09/11/2001 will certainly be one of those defining moments for us! But after we get by the remembrances of this day what changes do we make to our life?

You and I, most likely, will not be called to sacrifice our lives (thank God!). However, to preserve liberty, and our way of life in general, there will have to be some sacrifices. How much does your freedom mean to you? How valuable is it? Of what are you made? Some news reports state that some Americans are weary of the "War on Terrorism!" Do we not see the larger picture?

If you want to live a hopeful and fulfilled life then dedicate yourself to a cause greater than you.

I love the song, America The Beautiful...especially these words:
"O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America! May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine! "

GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS
