Okay its not THE Pond - as some call the ocean. And it is not just A Pond - as in smaller than a lake. It is a lake! I enjoy living on it and spending time on my back porch listening to music, gazing at the lake and pondering.

In The Dog Days Of Summer I'm Heated Up

A LETTER FROM A FRIEND
I heard from a friend - at least that is what he called me - yesterday. John McCain sent me a nice letter and glossy photo of he and Cindy on the night he won enough delegates to become the Republican nominee. He sent it as a token of his appreciation. He doesn't know I voted for another candidate in the primary. But I still had a tear in my eye but soon realized Debbie was cutting up some onions for use in our dinner.

John said I was one our country's most faithful Republican and loyal patriots. I appreciate that. I do try and vote at every opportunity I have. I pay my taxes even though sometimes I think they are too high. I try and give to good causes, be they church, cancer research, Muscular Dystrophy Association, and a new city pool for the Skiatook kids. John wants me to prove my faithful and patriotic status. He wants me send him money now.

But see, I have seen the negative ads beginning already (from both sides). And I am not happy. These politicians need to quit telling us what is wrong and bad about the other guy and tell me what is good about themselves. What are they and their party going to do to get us protected, prosperous, and prepared. Protected from the world's bad guys, prosperous by keeping taxes low and what is collected spent wisely, and prepared for any adversity with a healthy dose of integrity and morality.

CONGRESS PASSES PORK BEFORE THE SUMMER BREAK
I saw last night that before congress took their 5-week summer break, they passed some spending bills that had about 500 pork items in it. Highlighted in this particular segment was an office building in Pennsylvania that was funded a few years ago. Now it stands empty. But the congressman (whom the building is named after) included 5 million for a parking garage. He tells his constituents it is free money.

WHY IT IS SO HOT
So now we know why it is so hot. Our congress has returned, with all their hot air, to their home districts.

BACK TO MY FRIEND
John wants me to tell him if his picture was damaged and I want a new one. He told me my contribution was not tax deductible on my income tax. I check the little box on my return. That is all he is getting. Now, he needs to pick a good running mate.

The political conventions are this month. So, more hot air is predicted. It will be a long hot August.
