Didn't we just set our clocks back last month? It sure seems like it!
This is the second year that Daylight Saving Time has been 4 weeks longer than before (the practice originally began during the 1st world war). Here is an interesting article on the history of this silly practice - Daylight Saving Time
Did you read the article? Well I have a couple questions. If Daylight Saving Time was instituted to save energy why do we go back to standard time - ever? Is it okay to waste energy between April and November?
My cell phones have a terrific feature. They get some kind of signal from the company providing dial tone that corrects them to the proper time. I am going to write my provider a thank you note for taking care of that for me! I'll do that tomorrow afternoon. Tonight, I have other plans involving digital clocks.
The PC used to take care of the time change issue too. Last year my PC running Windows 98 failed the test because in 2006 the extra 4 week rule kicked in. For 4 weeks my email times were behind time. It was kind of cool because sometimes I answered email before the person who wrote me even sent it. It was almost magical. I felt kind of like Carnac the Magnificent. I purchased a new PC with Windows Vista this year. I am anxious to see what time the PC says it is next I log on.
I guess it is not really the extra 4 weeks that bother me. It is just that as soon as I post this blog I will have to get out all the manuals for my cars, clock radios, VCR, TV, thermostat, range and microwave ovens to get the time changed on all my digital equipment! And in the spring I not only loose an hour to DST but another hour setting my clocks.
I better get to it....now just where are those manuals?
