Okay its not THE Pond - as some call the ocean. And it is not just A Pond - as in smaller than a lake. It is a lake! I enjoy living on it and spending time on my back porch listening to music, gazing at the lake and pondering.

Mothers Day 2008

"People are looking to other's lives for answers to questions of their own."

- Leo Beal Braudy
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"We were so poor..."
"How poor were you?"
"We were so poor that when it snowed, instead of galoshes, my mother made us wear Wonder Bread wrappers over our shoes to keep our shoes and feet dry."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's true! It is one of Trisha's, Sandra's and my most humorous of memories! I don't remember it actually...but we get lots of laughs looking at pictures and home movies from those times. I don't think we were really that "poor." Our mother was just being frugal, resourceful and, in this writer's opinion, a tad bit looney.

To this day, I still look at the qualities and values of her life and measure mine by her shadow (however, no child of mine EVER wore bread wrappers for golashes). In her manner of life I find a pattern and anchor for mine.

Here's to you, Mom! I wouldn't be here today without you!

I am looking forward to hearing a blog about the Mother's Day reunion in Bentonville and Antioch. I was sorry I couldn't be there. Hope Mother, Dad and the rest of you enjoyed it.
